Local Natives: music that caresses your heart

Great art often comes from genuine places, and when you listen to Local Natives’ latest record, Hummingbird (2013), one can almost assure, based upon the warm allure of their songs, that they must have come out of true feelings. Taylor Rice’s chants get very close to heartbreaking territory, the notes played by the guitar and the keyboards act out as emotional squeezes, and the drums offer a charming percussive element to embellish even more this set of tunes. Hummingbird is a great record because, one, it feels daringly honest, and two, it is very well done: everything, from the songwriting and the arrangements to the production is delicately taken care of. Local Natives have made the best indie rock record of 2013, so listen to it and you will verify the impressive height of the bar they have set with this accomplishment.
