Justin Walter: layering delicate textures of sound
Justin Walter makes music that soothes your senses. His intricate and well-achieved handling of sonic textures makes him one of the most interesting electronic musicians nowadays. Lullabies and nightmares (2013), his latest album, is a very expressive material in terms of the feelings it evokes –melancholy, quietude, introspection. Walter’s ability to shape sounds is certainly impressive thanks in large part to his forays with the Electronic Valve Instrument –which is some sort of synthesizer controlled by wind. His music manages to compel us to look into our internal and external states of mind. Lullabies and nightmares inspires us to dream, feel and live in a subdued yet intense type of way.
